Mega-Bright comes to Origins courtesy of Dr. Andrew Weil, whose name goes out (trademarked) on a number Origins products. For anyone unfamiliar with Dr. Weil, he’s a bald, bearded, avuncular advocate for all things holistic – foods, medicines, cosmetics, etc. Packing an undergrad degree plus an MD from Harvard, he brings serious cred to the alternative medicine universe, which as we all know, continues to coalesce with mainstream medicine.
Mega-Bright is a skin tone correcting oil-free moisturizer, and the SPF 30 means you can deploy it as a sunscreen as well. The product is intended for daily use, and it’s the best moisturizer I’ve found to date. Apply it in the morning, after the rest of your bathroom routine and before departure for work, the coffee shop, the casino, or wherever you’re spending your days. This skincare product contains more natural extracts, oils, etc., than you can imagine. The ingredients list reads like a trip through the bulk bin section of a natural foods store. You know, the aisle where all those granola types are always loitering. Because that’s where the granola bins are. To apply Mega-Bright, just massage it into the areas you want to moisturize and/or protect from the sun. I apply it daily to my forehead, nose, cheeks and neck. Mega-Bright has a light, citrus-driven aroma, and has some weight on the skin without being too oily. It holds up equally well to a day of hard labor or hard leisure – assuming you’re not swimming or sweating up a storm, in which case you may need to re-apply it. I can even feel its continuing effects after washing my face once or twice during the day. Mega-Bright SPF 30 comes in a compact, circular plastic container containing 1.7 oz. of product. The screw-on top of the jar is a muted gold color, and the container is a green hue that falls somewhere on the sage-mint-jade spectrum. The familiar Origins logo, comprised of two BFF trees, is depicted in miniature, at the bottom of the container – all the better to focus attention on the “Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins” tagline at the top. The jar fits very conveniently into my medicine cabinet, and would also be fine on the counter next to the bathroom sink. This product is available at standalone Origins stores, sometimes within large department stores, and always online. Mega-Bright 30 costs $49.50 for a jar, which will last 2-3 months, depending on your usage level. Give it a spin! by ManPossible
