Man-crush Top 10 - well groomed movie characters

Alrighty gents (and ladies)… let’s start this Friday with some random outrageous news in the past month or so.  For starters, if you haven’t heard, there was and still seems to be a man-crush craze around the arrested felon Jeremy Meeks.  Within hours of the Stockton police department posting the mug shot of Meeks, the felon’s image post blew up with tens of thousands of females “liking” and commenting about how sexy the dude looked…  Best keep yo girl in check. 

Next, Facebook is facing a potential investigation for its online study where it tweaked the newsfeed of nearly 700,000 users to see if there was a correlation between positive and negative newsfeed to user emotions.  Well what the heck do you think Facebook?  The answer is yes.  There was definitely a lot of negative feedback from Facebook users and privacy activists after finding out about this experiment.

For this Friday's post, we thought we'd mash things up a bit (Man-Crush + Online Study) and came up with a list of well groomed movie characters in the past decade.  For the fair maidens that visit our site, consider this a Friday treat.  As for the fine lads, definitely observe and take notes…

#10 Captain Jack Sparrow – As a pirate that sails the seven seas looking for lost treasure and adventure, Captain Jack Sparrow is definitely one of the few people we look up to.  During an era where people’s teeth rotted in their 30s due to improper care, Captain Sparrow not only has a full set of teeth, he also rocks a mighty fine mustache and beard.  His hair on the other hand, not so much groom worthy!  The harsh weather of the sea didn’t dissipate the shine from his skin, but rather Jack sports a fine tan and smooth skin likely a result from his SPF application (tips from past ManPossible articles).  

#9 Thor – As a mythical god that defends the nine realms, Thor has an impressive head of long blonde hair.  We admire Thor’s hair so much that we thought it’s only fitting to give him a spot on our list.  For one to be able to do battle with Frost Giants, Dark Elves and Aliens, the hair care product Thor uses must be as powerful as his trusty hammer: Mjölnir.  We can only watch in pure awe and envy as his hair moves in perfect harmony with his thunderous hammer swings.

#8 Ron Woodroof – When people hear the word “cowboy”, most will think of outlaws or dirty strangers on horsebacks, etc.  However, Ron Woodroof put a different twist to that word.  As a cowboy that fights for the things he believes in (while being properly groomed),  Woodroof showed us that you could pursue what matters the most to you, all while suitably caring for your mustache. 

#7 Tyler Durden – “The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club”.  Yes sir, how can we do a ManPossible top 10 without our friend Tyler Durden?  If this movie has taught us anything, it’s that soap is your best friend.  Nothing defines the true nature of men’s grooming like lathering ourselves with a good o’ bar of lard. 

#6 Tony Stark – Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, there’s something Tony can teach you two.  He’s a well groomed billionaire.  Tony Starks, is the son of a genius weapons manufacturer, Howard Anthony Stark.  To the comic book fans, Tony is famous for his alter ego, Ironman.  However, when Tony isn’t saving the world with his Avenger pals, this billionaire playboy is definitely the life of the party.  With his fancy taste for elegance and flamboyant personality, Tony’s grooming style can be categorized as detailed and precise.

#5 Bruce Wayne – Coming in one rank higher than Tony Starts is another billionaire with a much more mature personality.  Similar to Tony, Bruce Wayne’s split personality dawns the cape, feared by many as the Dark Knight.  When he is not busting faces and solving mysteries, Mr. Wayne attends high-end dinner functions and supports those cause worthy non-profits in a well groomed fashion.  Sporting a clean shaven face and slick combed hair, Bruce Wayne’s simple approach to grooming makes him a worthy candidate.  Not to mention the dude is BATMAN!!!! 

#4 Jordan Belfort – The epitome of American Dream, Jordan Belfort showed us the true lavish life of Wall Street.  Throughout the outrageous parties and hardcore drug usage, Jordan manages to stay well groomed with his slick-back hair and clean-cut appeal.  This, my friends, is the ultimate example of a daily grooming practice that differentiates the big boys from the kitties.

#3 Danny Ocean – Playing by the books and winning, can best describe our next nominee.  A respected gentleman in his own right, Danny Ocean gave us a visual display of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal.  Something about committing a smooth heist, which includes your own entourage and thinking steps ahead of your rival, elevates the world of con artistry to new heights.  To add to that, no longer are masks, sweaty bodies, and heavy equipment the means to a successful disguise.  Danny Ocean and his crew proved that proper hair products, colognes, and shaving tools can perform the same job while having a good time.

#2 James Bond – Bond, James Bond!!!  Let’s be real, how many of us watch the Bond series just so we can fantasize that it is us playing this international spy who grooms the smoothest lines?  I know I have, and I am not afraid to admit it.  Although being smooth and having cool gadgets are awesome, 007 didn’t’ simply make our list because of that.  Bond’s ability to be versatile and a keen eye for excellence in secretive high end grooming products lend well to this spot.  As a man who appreciates a good bottle of cologne and a martini, we salute you for your one-of-a-kind style!

#1 Jay Gatsby – A true American classic.  Jay Gatsby, the icon, the legend, and most of all, the Man.  When you look at grooming, it pertains more than just what’s on the outside.  The ultimate form of grooming is to invigorate a sense of confidence and bring out the best in all of us.  3/7 comb-over, clean shaven face, rough and rigid skin tone; all these characteristics makes Jay Gatsby the perfect groomer.
