The Hangover Cure

Good morning all MP loyals!  We hope everyone had a restful night of beauty sleep.  For those of you who happened to have a little more fun than the rest of us, we’re sure you’re still paralyzed in bed with a massive headache.  A good night isn’t simply having a good time and making sure you get home in one piece, it’s also important to get up the next morning and function under the context of “business as usual”.  Sure you can take pills, sweat it out, or inflate your bladder with Gatorade, but what if there was an easier way out of this painful mess?  What if the cure to your hangover was a simple task that is already incorporated into your daily grooming routine?  Now we have your attention!

In the Monday’s post, we shared our initial thoughts on our very first Birchbox for men.  It just so happens that one of the contents within the box has this magical power of reviving the tired and the hungover.  Our star of the show today is Davines Naturaltech Energizing Shampoo.

At a first glance, the bottle resembles that of some oriental medicine / ornament container.  What you see is a dark almost black auburn plastic that makes up the overall packaging.  Aside from a small red rectangular slip on the back with super small prints of ingredients and disclaimers, your eyes will most likely be fixated on the label at the front.  In case the word oriental was used out of context during the first sentence, the better place for its usage would have to be to describe the image of an ascending dragon between clouds on the front of the bottle.

Once you twist off the black cap, you are hit with a powerful aroma that will trigger a stimulating sensation from your nostrils up to your brain.  This unique scent has a hint of ginger and peppermint spice.  We’ll be honest, we weren’t a fan of the smell at first.  It reminds you of something created out of ginger tea and Chinese medicine; none of which are our favorite.  The actual texture of the shampoo resembles that of liquid caramel: a thin and glossy hazel cream.

The application process is straightforward.  Dabble a dime size portion of the shampoo on your palm and then slowly massaging it into your scalp.  Aside from the pungent aroma, this product has another special functionality.  This bottle of yin yang goodness contains ingredients such as caffeine and beta-glucans to help stimulate scalp circulation, allowing your hair to absorb the appropriate nutrients to stay rich and healthy.

The ingredients in the product trigger a cool and refreshing sensation as the nutrients blend in and get absorbed by your skin.  We kid you not, once you start working the formula on your scalp, the mixture of your movement and water causes the fragrance to intensify.  Inhaling the fragrance sends a rush of tingling sensation from your nostrils all the way to the top of your head.  Almost immediately you will feel a shot of adrenaline dispersing throughout your body, filling it with energy.

Disclaimer:  If you choose to proceed with this product, be prepare to smell like you just slept with the gingerbread wo-man.

As you go about your day, you’ll continue to pick up the light scent of the fragrance, giving you an unexpected jolt to keep you awake.  A full-size bottle (8.4 oz) can be purchased online for $25.50.  It’s definitely not cheap, but next time you go drinking, make sure to have a bottle of Davines Naturaltech Energizing Shampoo to combat the morning!
