Greetings and salutations gentlemen. Today we have yet another treat for everyone. Our friends over at Gatsby Hair Wax just sent us some rubber rainbows; and by rubber rainbows I mean Gatsby’s Moving Rubber hair wax series… oh baby! Myself being a long time Gatsby fan and one of the few ManPossible gents with actual hair, I’m super stoked about trying out all the different variations of Gatsby. Dōmo arigatōgozaimashita Gatsby.
A quick background on Gatsby: The brand specializes in men’s hair, beauty, and cosmetic products manufactured by Mandom (MAN-dom not WOMAN-dom) dating back to 1927. One of the main products that put the brand on the map (and on my hair) was the Gatsby Moving Rubber series. For those who are interested in learning more about the company’s history and unique offerings simply click “Here”. What’s a product undressing post without the eye candy: Gentlemen, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for, coming on to the stage is our four lovely ladies… First to come down the runway is Spiky Edge. She comes in Gatsby’s unique and award winning PINK packaging. For those who are second guessing the product because of it’s packaging color, you are highly mistaken my friend. If my mom taught me anything, it’s to never judge a book by its cover, color, and never to argue with a woman when she is angry. I definitely find the latter much more useful at times and I’m sure most of you agree. The Spiky Edge hair wax actually has the strongest hold consistency in the Moving Rubber series. The look and feel of the product definitely has that wax-like texture and volume. For best results, it is suited for individuals with short hair. If you are looking to have an edgy and lasting look, this is definitely the one to have. Our second beauty goes by the name Wild Shake. If that didn’t get you to do a double take then the cool PURPLE packaging will definitely capture your undivided attention. This is the second strongest hold in the Moving Rubber series with the added formulas for a glossy and more defined look. When rubbing the hair wax between the fingers, it doesn’t feel as concentrated and thick as Spiky Edge. Wild Shake, like it’s name suggests, focuses on a balanced relationship between fiction and reality. This product is suited for individuals with short to medium short hair, allowing for a definitive look without compromising on mobility. Third time’s the charm, so they say. We’ll let you be the judge on that as this GREEN missy is known as Air Rise. The best comparison that comes to mind for the texture of this product is yogurt. More specifically Yoplait! Ever woke up with bed hair and find yourself spending countless minutes trying to look proper. Well, with Air Rise those days are over. This particular wax specializes in creating volume. Applying the product will add more depth to the overall look without compromise on the time spent. Those of you with medium short and/or medium and above hair should definitely consider this product. Last but not least, we have our lovely Cool Wet appearing in her LIGHT BLUE wipe appeal. Rather than having me make up some dry sentence talking about how great Cool Wet is, I’m going to leave this to Gatsby. “Move towards sophistication and increase your sex appeal by refining your style with Cool Wet. This non-sticky, non-greasy formula was designed uniquely to create a wet look with a shiny finish”. What I can tell you from my untrained eyes, is that this is by far the most versatile product in the Moving Rubber family. Unlike other lines, the texture of the Cool Wet resembles that of hair gel and have similar liquid properties. It is also those exact same properties that allows for a wider range of hold consistency and shiny texture. For the everyday active person, this can be a calling for you. Before the ladies go away, I’d like to point out a few common features across the four products. For starters, all four of the Moving Rubber series have the same distinctive smell of what Gatsby calls: Mild Green Apple. All four colors come in primarily two sizes: large (2.8oz) capital “G” packaging and baby “g” (0.5oz) travel size. In the words of Tupac Shakur: “Ain’t nuthing but a G thang, baby!” For those who are as excited as I am about Gatsby, do keep an eye out for our upcoming A Week With The Gatsby Ladies article. We are going to breakdown the various user experience and bring it to you raw! by ManPossible
