Is Jennifer Aniston's Moisturizer Good Enough For MP?

Picture
So I just got handed a bottle of Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion from one of our female colleagues.  For those who aren't familiar, perhaps this will trigger your memory…  Jennifer Aniston is the spokesperson for Aveeno.  So, it's good enough for Jennifer, BUT is it worthy enough to make MP’s prestigious and coveted recommendation list?  We shall find out.
The bottle comes in three sizes: 8 oz, 12 oz, and 20 oz.  The 12 and 20 come in pump action bottle, while the 8 oz comes in a handy tube.  It screams... well, neutral with oatmeal colored plastic bottle, accented in olive green fonts.  Written on the bottle are words like “clinically proven to relieve dry skin”, “moisturizes for 24 hours”, and “fragrance free”.

The texture is a bit on the thick side, which has a nice substantive feel to it.  It’s not quite as thick as most hand creams.  I would put it somewhere between a lotion and a cream – “loeam” or “cretion”.  As you apply the lotion, it feels a bit waxy and not at all oily.  It's as if you're coating your skin with wax.  One thing I personally dislike about many body lotions or creams is that they feel as if you're putting a lump of lard on your body... granted it's sometimes great smelling lard, but still...  lard!  This is where Aveeno stands out with it's gliding wax like lotion.  Another big plus is it's fragrance free.  Most lotions and creams have a pleasant fragrance.  However, if you're the type of person who also wears cologne / perfume, deodorant, and on top of that, shampoo, conditioner, etc...  these can sometimes compete and collide.  So having a fragrance free lotion is a great option.  Aveeno claims this lotion is formulated with ACTIVE NATURALS COLLOIDAL OATMEAL - it uses oatmeal as it's natural ingredient to restore skin's normal pH to help prevent dry skin.

The verdict - I must say, this is one of my favorite moisturizing lotions I've used so far...  and we've tested many products here at MP.  It's unique waxy substance and perfectly blended thickness make this a great year rounder; some creams are just too thick and best for winter month use only.  Conversely, light lotions just don't offer the great moisturizing capabilities needed beyond the summer months.  Aveeno works well if you just want to reach for that one go to moisturizer.  [Grooming hack - I also tested Aveeno as my aftershave moisturizer and it was a fantastic soother!]  It was good enough for Jenny.  So was it good enough for MP readers?...  We approve!
