A Post-Apocalyptic Chase – Part 1

Here’s the scene:

The year is 2015, the post-apocalyptic future, an alternative universe.  It’s hot!  The temperature outside is well in the high 90s.  A 360 degree peek reveals nothing but dirt, sand, and mile after mile of barren land.  In this place, there are no rules; humanity is driven into chaos, and the means of power isn’t symbolized by money, but rather by one single commodity - oil!  In this hellfire driven society, those who posses this scarce resource rule the land.  

This vast wasteland is separated into various quadrants, each ruled by vicious warlords armed with demonic vehicles.  The “Tribes” as they are called, send their best warriors on treacherous missions to retrieve the highly desirable lifeblood.  Armed to the teeth, the warriors usually travel in packs with:  1) a huge armored tanker truck with mounted flamethrowers, rocket-launchers and torrents, 2) heavily-armed 4x4 with a driver, 2 armed passengers, and mini-machine guns, 3) a gang of dirt bike gunners.  It just so happens that this was a day that the warlord ordered his warriors to embark on a journey to fetch some oil.  With a deafening war cry and the roar of monstrous ignitions, the pack was off to its mission…

(Roughly 35 miles from the Tribe)

Silence.

Momentarily, a gust of wind swirls by, picking up a good amount of dust, creating a small sand tornado as it passes.  Over to the right we see our hero:  he is neither tall nor short.  His figure is neither wide nor slender.  One thing is for certain; he is well groomed!  Looking over his shoulder, we see the object of his admiration:  the 2015 Nissan Juke SV.

Given the look of his ride, we dare say this man has got style!  Instead of the usual gas-guzzler mounted with various weapons, our hero is taking a different approach.  What we have here is a Pearl White model with a unique front end that resembles a toad.  While the beauty of the Juke’s appearance is debatable, its performance is one that seems to have a much more definitive delivery.  With the SV model, our hero’s trust arsenal includes:

What is even more unique about the 2015 Nissan Juke is the introduction of the Color Studio.  The Color Studio is Nissan’s approach in providing Juke enthusiasts the ability to further customize their vehicle with 12 different accessories and 8 different colors.

Before our hero was finished giving this magnificent creature a proper walk around, something in the wind causes him to stop on his tracks.  Gradually lifting his head to face the horizon, what he sees in the distance was a rising dustbowl followed by the echoing cries of men and machines.  It takes a few second for our hero to come to his senses and snap back to reality.  At that exact moment, he dashes to the campsite and hastily stuffs everything into a travelling bag and heads for the Juke.

Arriving at the rear of the car he reaches above the license plate for a small circular nob and pushes it once to unlock the trunk and twice to unlock all the doors.  Following that, he moves his fingers from the small nob to a slightly larger rectangular nob on the right and pushes the button and lifts open the trunk.  Although the trunk space is small, our hero manages to use the 40/60 split folding rear seats for optimal cargo space.  With all the gears in the trunk, the door shuts as our hero bolts to the front and situates himself at the drivers seat.  To his right we find a pretty maiden seated in the passenger seat with a fearful look in her eyes.  Our hero reaches over to give the distressed maiden a reassuring pat on the shoulder and proceeds to hit the “Start” button.  Instantaneously the Juke comes to life, lighting up the dials on the dashboard.  Putting the gear in “Drive”, our hero steps on the gas and launches the beast into the open desert road.

Meanwhile, couple miles back, the vicious warriors spot the beaming Juke and are in hot pursuit.
