While escorting my girlfriend around the mall (because that’s the only reason men go to the mall), we happened to stumble upon the cosmetics department (no surprise there). While the ladies were having their usual blah blah moments, my attention was fixated on a strange product on the corner. There, standing tall and proud next to a bunch of female products was a tube of Clinique For Men Face Scrub. Face Scrub, you say??? Yes, interesting, I say!!! It sure beats the blah blah conversation; win win for me. Since MP only pays me in toilet paper rolls, I asked the sales associate for a small container sample. If you really want to see how the package looks, you can check it out here.
What really wowed me was not the little sample jar, but the content inside… The face scrub comes in a very light green color (sorry, I’m self-diagnosed borderline color-blind). As I moved in for a closer look, my two primary senses (sight and scent) were immediately alerted. The fragrance emitting from the scrub had a light and subtle scent of mint. The best analogy for the smell is similar to what you would find from a regular tube of toothpaste, in a good way. The physical form of the content resembles that of wax or clay - solid in form with a shinny and smooth texture. The real shocker came when I dipped my finger into the jar to apply to my face. The texture of the material reminded me of moist sandy loam. Not only did it feel mushy, there were actual micro crystals embedded in this stuff! As I rubbed my fingers, the miniature grains were creating friction between the skins. After being told to stop playing around (command from my girlfriend), I gave my face a quick splash of water and went to work. There are two ways to apply this stuff, you can either 1) use your finger to transfer the content to your face or 2) apply the material to your palm and then transfer your palm to your face. No matter which method you choose, the result should be the same… total awesomeness! What you want to do when the material comes into contact with your face is to close your eyes and then gently distribute it across your entire face. As you are doing so, you’ll immediately feel the crystals grinding against the skin of your face and your palm, giving a clean exfoliation. Bite your tongue and bid your time, this little pain will all be worth it. As you work your way around the entire surface, the friction caused by the crystals are penetrating your pores and lifting the gunk and dirt trapped underneath. Depending on the amount of sweat, dirt and grease, the more you scrub the more you’d notice the residues surfacing. At the same time, you’ll notice a light tingly sensation from your skin. Do not fear, this is a sign that the cream part of the formula is being applied into the open pores and doing its job of cleaning. It’s important to note that you should keep your eyes closed during the application process as the chemical can cause irritation. Once you’ve finished the thorough scrubbing process, we advise you to leave your face alone for 30 seconds to 1 minute for the chemicals to fully take into effect. Once you’ve waited long enough, proceed to rinse your face and wash everything off. BAM! That instance your face gets hit with the cold water, you’ll feel a sudden rush of coolness. It’s as if you just jumped head first into a chilling cold arctic lake; an awesome wakeup call. The cool sensation is a result of your face having poop-free pores. As you run your hands down your face, you’ll definitely notice a change in the texture of your skin, everything feels smooth and oil-free. I would definitely recommend using the face scrub twice a day: morning and night for the best results. ($21 at your Clinique counter near your or online) Now, go give you mother a kiss! She’ll appreciate the poop free pretty face! by ManPossible
