Are blotting sheets the final answer to oily face?
Hello again fellow ManPossible gents.  Today we are going to tackle the fundamental concept of wiping.  No, we are not referring to the magical butt wipes featured back in February.  Today's key word is 'blotting'.  How many of you throughout the day notice how shiny and oily your face, especially forehead, nose and chin get?  It’s especially greasy during the summer months.  There are quite a few products in the market place you can use to wipe away oils, dirt, and the other daily ‘poop’ the harsh environment has to offer.  BUT, how many of you Men actually use these products?  We at MP are here to break the gender barrier and encourage more Manly Man to experience this awesome oil sucking experience.

Sure, a little bit of oil doesn’t faze us guys.  After all, it’s usually the lady friends who tend to overreact as their makeup changes tone and color due to the level of oil on skin.  BUT, this is more than just the primitive notion of masculinity vs. beauty… It is an important part of gentleman’s proper grooming routine!

Now that we understand the Why, let’s talk about What and How.  For those who actually stepped outside of the man cave, we’re sure you’ve seen or heard of Oil Control Film, Facial Absorbent Paper, Oil Absorbing Cleanser, Oil Blotting Sheets and the likes.  These are special sheets designed to help reduce and combat oily skin.  If you were to do a quick Google search or ask your mom (we mean lady friend), you’ll find plenty of these at your local drug store.  These strips of sheets are super thin and come in various materials ranging from plastic-feel to more of a soft and cloth-like touch.  Depending on the brand you buy, some even come in various color.  The packing of the sheets are similar to a slim box of gum with a foldable “press-in” tab to lock it in place.  A normal pack usually comes with 40-60 sheets and can run you somewhere between $1.50 - $4.00.

The usage of the product itself is as simple as monkey see, monkey do.  Just take a sheet from the package and run it across the surface of your face.  Within seconds you’ll notice the sheet itself change in color and tone.  The most obvious indication is the transferring of oil from your skin to the sheet.  You’ll notice the transparent and reflective gloss of shine… oil sucked up from your skin.  Continue to repeat the process until the entire sheet is transparent and glistening or when you completely rid your face of excess oil.

As always, we are going to be honest with our fellow Men.  Are blotting sheets the final answer to oily face?  No its not.  There are other in-market face wash and skin care products specially designed to combat and eliminate oil secretion – Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator being one of these, which we’ll write about in our upcoming post.  However, blotting sheets with their convenience and ease of use are definitely a handy tool for your daily use.  If you are interested, we suggest checking out the following brands for more information: Clean and Clear, Gatsby, Shisheido, Boscia, and Sephora.
