FlashBack F-day!

Of course, we're referring to one of our articles from the past.  Flashback Friday! - Cruelty Free Grooming!  Happy Friday.
Grooming is another story.  Looking back a few years, I was a typical slob of a guy.  Any day I could get away with walking around unshaven in boxers and an old tee, I would.  So what changed?  Come on, you can guess – a woman entered the scene!

“What’s a nice guy like you doing in a place like this?”  That’s sort of what I think people are wondering when they hear that I’m not only a groomer; but also a blogger; and furthermore, a user of cruelty-free grooming products, i.e., no animal ingredients or animal testing.  Let’s face it – not that many manly men are into grooming in general (well, not yet, anyway), never mind being into writing about grooming products and experiences.  Similarly, there are very few of us Y chromosome types out there who are vegans and into animal rights and welfare.

Yup, you definitely encounter way more girls than boys in a couple of my lifestyle choices.  So now you may be wondering if I’m a wuss.  You know, one of those soft types.  (But did I mention you encounter a lot of girls!)

Nope.  I can almost definitely drink you under the table; probably run you off the track; and more likely than not, kick your ass too.  If those masculine credentials aren’t enough to impress you, I’m a huge sports fan and I don’t do yoga.

But again, how did I get where I got to?  All things for a reason, right?  Well, animal rights/welfare came first, soon after getting my first dogs and cats.  Like lots of you, I see pets as family members.  And I just don’t see a fundamental difference between our four-footed friends at home and the animals I used to eat, wear, etc.  So I went veg, and eventually vegan, plus cruelty-free in all my shopping, including cosmetics.

Grooming is another story.  Looking back a few years, I was a typical slob of a guy.  Any day I could get away with walking around unshaven in boxers and an old tee, I would.  So what changed?  Come on, you can guess – a woman entered the scene!  Like most women, she’s not the type who’s all that impressed by a typical slob of a guy.  In fact, she’s the type who gravitates toward the highest end cosmetics and beauty products.  Lucky me, huh?

Actually, this was the basis of a fortuitous convergence:  a collision of the high-end and the cruelty-free grooming products.  As my better half got me to start cleaning up my act, we realized that almost all of the schmancy brands out there are also cruelty-free.  So these days, my bathroom is filled with various jars and tubes of stuff from Aveda, Kiehls, Origins, and lots of other less famous brands that also avoid animal ingredients and testing.  Then, I came across ManPossible!... full of guru-mers in grooming!... men, just like me in many ways, yet so different in others!

So that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.  As a man who has come a long way in more ways than one, I can say with authority that anything is ManPossible!  And I look forward to continuing to keep you “in the know” about super cool grooming products, experiences, etc.
